Coron: Kayangan Lake

Coron has a lot of extraordinary island hopping spots, so I got confused on what tour package to choose. All the places here are so beautiful that I wanted to visit all of them in just 1 day. If only I had enough money, I will stay here longer.:)  We opted for the “Ultimate Island hopping tour” which includes a visit to Siete Pecados, Kayangan Lake, Beach 91, CYC Beach, Barracuda Lake, and Twin Lagoon. It actually hurts a little inside to miss some of the destinations (Malcapuya Island, Banana Island, etc.) but it’s okay, I gotta go back someday. 🙂

The tour started from 7am-6pm. We were with random travelers, mostly from other countries. I was amazed by how the tour guides welcomed their guests. They were very accommodating and entertained us with their countless jokes. I also noticed how they take good care of the environment. They are very meticulous especially when it comes to proper garbage disposal.

1st Destination: Siete Pecados –Snorkeling is the main activity here.

Don’t forget to bring your snorkeling gear or rent one for 150php. There are shallow areas, so be mindful not to step on the precious corals. And speaking of corals, enjoy the vastness and uniqueness of marine life Siete Pecados has to offer.

2nd Destination: Kayangan Lake. Hailed one of the cleanest lakes in Asia.

For the record, this is my first lake swimming experience. I can’t believe it can also be perfect for swimming. I used to think of “lakes” as a place where there are ducks, lilies, and only good for kayaking. But Kayangan is impeccably clean and unspoiled.

From the docking area, one has to take 200 steps going up and down to reach the lake.

This is where the boats dock.

I got here two splendid views. Boyfriend and the Kayangan Lake.. 🙂

I don’t know exactly the name of these lovely little fishes, but these are the only sea creatures I noticed in the lake.

A shoal of bream.

After we spent 2 hours here, I have to say that Kayangan lake is one of my favorite spots in Coron. It’s hard to say goodbye to nature, especially to a place like this.

3rd Destination: Beach 91– This is where most of the tours have their lunch. Kayaking and snorkeling are the main activities here.

I was a little upset when I saw dead and dying trees due to El Niño. This view would have been more spectacular if the rock formations were surrounded by lively green trees. Others prefer the gray view but I love it when it’s green. 😊

Our sumptuous lunch truly defines the true meaning of “fresh seafood”.

Also part of the tour is CYC beach, Barracuda Lake, and Twin Lagoon.

It was a long tiring day, yet one of the priceless journey I had this year. Before we went back to our hotel, we had a group picture with these strangers.
